Your Volkswagen model’s air conditioning plays a vital role in keeping you cool and comfortable in the summer; it also makes sure that your car’s cabin doesn’t have too much humidity. If the A/C system is no longer working the way it should, we invite you to come to Douglas Volkswagen, serving Chatham and New Providence. Find out more about A/C service on this page, and then see us at Douglas Volkswagen in Summit, NJ.
Refrigerant is the compound that makes the entire A/C system work. It travels through the system as a gas, picking up excess heat from your vehicle’s engine. Then, it turns into a liquid and sheds that heat. This process causes cold air to be created around it, which is then blown into your cabin by way of the blower motors. Refrigerant can leak over time, causing a troublesome low refrigerant level. We can search for any leaks and recharge your A/C refrigerant at Douglas Volkswagen.
The A/C compressor turns liquid refrigerant into a gas, pushing it through the refrigerant lines where it can pick up heat. The compressor can wear out with time, or it may become physically damaged. In either case, it will need to be replaced — and we have OEM VW compressors at Douglas Volkswagen.
The A/C condenser does the opposite of what the compressor does, turning refrigerant from a gas into a liquid so that it can release the excess heat. If the condenser is clogged, we may be able to unclog it. However, condensers can also become damaged, requiring replacement.
The blower motors blow the cold air that the refrigerant creates into your VW model’s cabin. Blower motors that have suffered physical damage and stop working will need to be replaced, but there can also be electrical issues that may need to be addressed.
The cabin air filter keeps dust, pollen, and other contaminants from entering your vehicle’s cabin. Over time, it will become clogged and will need to be replaced. This is a quick and easy service at Douglas Volkswagen.
