4 New Year’s Resolutions for Your Vehicle

January 4th, 2020 by

Happy New Year from our team at Douglas Volkswagen. This is a joyous time as we begin to set goals and aspirations for what we want to accomplish during the next year. While personal New Year’s resolutions are often abandoned early on, keeping car-related resolutions is typically a much easier task.

To help you come up with some worthwhile resolutions for your vehicle, we decided to write this short guide. In the meantime, consider bringing your vehicle in to be serviced by one of our expert technicians to guarantee a smooth start to your new year.

Enjoy Your Car in 2020

Just Drive

That means no texting, no Instagramming, no checking emails, no anything that takes your eyes away from the open road in front of you. Distracted driving is one form of danger while driving that is easily preventable. All you need to do is put the source of your distraction out of sight and be mindful of your surroundings while driving. If you’re thinking that it’s not that big of a deal, guess again: an average of nine people die each day from distracted driving. Don’t add to these figures.

Take Care of Your Tires

The sound and feeling of a flat tire is immediately recognizable, but would you know how to tell if your tires are low, worn down, or in need of replacement? Being proactive with taking care of your tires can save you a lot of headaches (and money) in the long run. One easy way to tell whether your tires need replacing is to do what’s called “the penny trick.”

Keep Your Interior Clean

Not only will doing this make things look better, but you’ll feel better, too. For some, keeping the interior of their vehicle clean comes naturally while, for others, it’s a chore to throw anything away. Luckily, there are some simple things you can do right now to be on your way to achieving this resolution. First, remove everything from your vehicle that is not essential. Then, gather any loose, important papers and stick them in your glovebox. Finally, give the interior a deep clean and take your vehicle through a car wash.

Check and Change Your Oil

Checking and changing your oil regularly is a vital component of basic vehicle maintenance, as keeping your car’s engine properly lubricated will help prevent a whole range of potential issues. Thankfully, learning how to check and change your oil is really simple and only takes a few minutes. If you’d rather have a professional handle it, our service team will gladly assist you.
