The Volkswagen First-Time Buyer Program, available through Douglas Volkswagen in Summit, NJ ‐ near Livingston, Chatham, and West Orange ‐ is for first-time vehicle buyers who haven’t been able to establish credit. We understand that establishing a credit history can be a challenge, and not having a long credit history can sometimes hinder car shoppers from being able to purchase a vehicle. If you’re buying your first ride, this program can help you get behind the wheel of an automobile you can drive home!

How does the Volkswagen First-Time Buyer Program work?

If you’re a first-time car buyer who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have had a full-time job for a year, you can take advantage of this program to purchase a new/nearly new untitled Volkswagen vehicle, Certified Pre-Owned Volkswagen, or a pre-owned Volkswagen.

What will I need to bring to the dealership?

  • Proof of income, with a minimum of one year verifiable full-time employment with your current employer, and an income that is sufficient to cover all financial obligations
  • Contact name and phone number within the payroll or human resources department of your employer
  • Documentation to verify your address and home phone number
  • Copy of your U.S. Social Security card
  • Two complete personal references (including address and phone number) who reside in the U.S. and who Volkswagen Credit can contact directly; one must be from a relative
