2019 Volkswagen Atlas vs 2020 Hyundai Palisade
If you are a Volkswagen fan, you know that the Volkswagen Atlas has become one of the hottest-selling vehicles for the brand. In the nearly two years that it has been available, the Volkswagen has consistently been lauded as one of the best large crossovers on the market – and it has racked up numerous awards to prove it. But there will soon be a new crossover on the market that has a goal of knocking the Atlas off its well-earned pedestal – and that is the 2020 Hyundai Palisade (how do you even pronounce that?). Will the Volkswagen Atlas remain on top? Find out with the help of this comparison that we created!

Is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas Better Than the 2020 Hyundai Palisade?
As of right now, information for the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is not fully available and won’t be until the vehicle hits the market sometime this summer. But from what we have seen through credible resources and on the auto show circuit, excitement for the new vehicle is lukewarm at best and more attention is going toward its all-new Kia Telluride cousin (check out our 2019 Volkswagen Atlas vs 2020 Kia Telluride comparison).
The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas and 2020 Hyundai Palisade are similar in size, but the Atlas offers seating for up to seven passengers while the Palisade can hold eight. Unless you have a family that makes you think that you are the living version of the Cheaper by the Dozen films, you should be fine with seating for seven. Most vehicles with third-row seating are notorious for being cramped in the way back, but that is not the case with the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas. Two adults can comfortably sit in the rear seats of the Atlas and still stretch out their legs.
Another reason that we love the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas is its high-quality engines designed by the brand’s world-renowned German engineers. The preferred V6 engine can tow up to 5,000 pounds (same as the Palisade) and boasts a 17 mpg-city / 24 mpg-highway estimated fuel economy.
