I recently had to say goodbye forever to an old friend–my 2001 Audi A6 4.2, a strong-hearted friend laid low by flooding rains. It was pronounced totalled by my insurance company after a diagnosis by Douglas VW’s service department. When I went to Douglas to retrieve my belongings and pat my Audi’s dashboard in thanks for its 163,000 miles of service, my eye caught a bright blue VW R32– a rare commodity in th automotive world. Jeremy Gutierrez, one of Douglas’ salespersons. introduced himself, and after truly empathizing with me for my Audi, offered me a test drive of both the R32, and a GTI, so that i could compare the two. Jeremy knew his products well, and took the time to get to know me, and learn what my automotive needs were ( I am a salesman, on the road year-round), without sounding patronizing or being presumptuous. I enjoyed both cars, but ultimately chose the R32 (it is THE best German hot hatch–possibly of all time). Jeremy took care of the all the paperwork–the obvious stuff–but also called my insurance company to provide them with the vitals, a nice touch. And to his and Douglas’ great credit, inspite of the relative rarity of this particular car, worked with me to insure that the car would fit my budget–disclosing all the relevant numbers, and recommende=ing some–but not all– of several aftermarket warranty options. Their frankness and honesty, as well as their accumulated knowledge of what the service record of the model I bought, helped me make some smart choices. I am thrilled with the car (like a 10 year old boy with a new toy), and am very confident in my recommendation of both Jeremy G. and the entire Douglas VW organization. Very Truly, Tim D.
